I bought it more as a place to set keys and/or a purse when coming home so was hoping it could handle a little more wear. If you're careful with it, would be fine for a plant, but not much else. Instead of a lamp, I put a it in the corner covered with scarf and put a plant on it. Unless you plan to cover this with a scarf, look for something else. Cheap design, cheaply made.
