The first time product arrived via Ceva Freight the box had a large hole in it and the futon was damaged so we refused delivery. We reordered it once it was back in stock and it arrived quickly thanks to Amazon prime. The second time the box still had several rips and tears (See pictures). We verified that there was no damage through the hole that was in the packaging. The futon was heavy if I had to guess maybe 120lbs. We wanted to have it setup on our second floor loft for my 14 month daughters use. The so called white glove service just delivers through the front door. They do not take it up stairs or out the packaging so keep that in mind. Be sure to check the box and futon thoroughly before signing the freight company release.Once we took it out the packaging we noticed a small hole at the top of the futon. Appeared to be caused by the inside wood. It was strange none the less we decided to keep the futon since it was in an inconspicuous place. One of the 3 legs was a bit difficult to put on since the screw holes didn't line up as they should but eventually fixed it once all tightened. The legs are metal and appeared to be painted with a matte grey color. I do feel the futon is a bit stiff to lie on when flat but we don't plan on using it as bed. We tested a similar futon at a local store and hated it. This one was much better as far as cushioning. The Amazon description fails to mention the multiple positions the futon can adjust to (See pics). It appears to be similar if not exact to an Atherton futon sold by Wally World. The pillows are removable and don't have any Velcro on them. Overall the futon appears of decent quality I would say good to very good but not excellent. I give it 4 stars for the price and appearance. I take a away 1 star for quality, packaging and some stiffness. In order to have the occasional person stay over if needed and for watching TV or reading, we wanted a stylish sofa bed. This does the trick. The Klik Klack system makes this super easy to move from sofa to bed position. A neat thing Amazon did not show was a third position (flat with the head raised). The arms are glorified pillows that tend to fall off, but that also can be used as pillows for the bed. Comfort is decent for sitting or lounging, but a bit hard for an overnighter. Not only was the box beat up, it was coated in tar that stuck to my floor. It took a while to clean and scrub that stuff off. What was it, dragged down the highway? PRO - Easy to assemble, just attach the legs - Multiple positions and functions, especially the lounger function (I added a pic here) - Good quality for the price. No, I would not want a 300lb man jumping on this for an hour, but for normal and reasonable use it should have a long life - Nice microsuede fabric is attractive (I bought a spray on fabric protector and applied it for extra protection) and easy to clean with a damp cloth or vacuum - Firm support (I like it, some will say it's too firm). I suppose one could add a mattress topper to soften it up. - Lightweight and easy to move CON - The backing is black, does not match the sofa color. Meaning the backing needs to face a wall, and isn't meant to be in the middle of the room. - Shipping concern mentioned above. Inspect your package before you sign for delivery. - Width is just less than a full size bed when folded out. Not really for couples to use regularly. Were it not for the shipping issues, I would have given this 5 stars. I use it in a den mostly to read and watch TV. Guests use it as a bed. I don't think I'd want to spend every night on this, but for a den or guest room, or maybe a child or student, it's a great choice. I like the item a lot and plan to keep it and use it for a long time. |
